CEO's You Should Know: Frankie Ruiz (Don't Stop)

Frankie Ruiz is a visionary leader whose impact on Miami’s wellness culture is both profound and enduring. As co-founder of the internationally acclaimed Life Time Miami Marathon, Ruiz has helped transform the city into a global destination for health and fitness. The marathon, which draws over 25,000 participants annually, has generated more than $300 million in economic impact for Miami-Dade County—cementing its role as a cornerstone of civic pride and tourism.

Ruiz currently serves as Chief Wellness Officer for the City of Miami, where he champions initiatives that promote active living through parks, public spaces, and community engagement. He also sits on several advisory boards, including the Miami-Dade Parks Advisory Board, the Lil’ Abner Foundation, and the Baptist Health Bounce Back from Cancer Leadership Council, helping guide inclusive development across the region.

As founder of the Baptist Health Brickell Run Club, the world’s largest weekly free run club, and CEO of Run the City, Inc., Ruiz produces over 20 annual fitness events that activate public spaces and support local causes. His work with Breakwater Hospitality Group brings wellness and entertainment together through large-scale events like the Miami Beach Fitness Festival powered by HYROX, Bayfront Park’s July 4th Festival, and John Martin’s St. Patrick’s Day Street Festival.

A nationally recognized coach, Ruiz has led Belen Jesuit’s cross-country team to 15 state titles and was named 2024 National High School Coach of the Year. He also serves as Nike Run Club Head Coach for the Southeastern U.S., with guided runs featured on the Nike Run Club App.

Ruiz’s motto, “Don’t Stop,” reflects his relentless drive to inspire others—on the course, in the community, and in life. When not coaching or producing events, he enjoys time with his wife Carla Duenas and their children, Matias and Paulina, often exploring the natural beauty of the Everglades.
