SARASOTA -- Lido Beach is the latest on Florida's west coast, to reopen after Hurricane Milton, effective Saturday (2nd).

Sarasota's parks and recreation department and public works department had to repair a concession building that suffered blown-out windows and a door that got blown off its hinges. The windows are boarded up but the concession stand is reopened. The city also had to tend to a walkway damaged by Milton.

City of Sarasota Parks and Recreation Director Jerry Fogle says they got some help from the county in cleaning up the beach. "They went out and raked the entire beach. It looks gorgeous right now."

The parking lot is still tied up with large amounts of displaced sand, making it harder to find a space. Fogle suggests parking in downtown Sarasota and taking the free trolley service over the bridge to Lido.

Nearby North Lido Beach and South Lido Beach remain closed.

Meanwhile, Venice Beach, which is maintained by Sarasota County, reopened Friday (1st).
